What Is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced ray key, is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation which
promotes healing. Its administered by the laying on of hands while the client is fully clothed and in a resting position. The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for spiritually guided life energy which flows through thepractitioner into the client, aiding healing of all types.
Reiki is used all over the world and is gaining respect within the traditional medical community. In particular, many hospitals recognize and acknowledge the benefits their patients derive from Reiki while going through chemotherapy, surgery, or other treatments. Besides enlisting non-medical practitioners, hospital administrators are encouraging their nurses to become Reiki attuned and make Reiki part of their daily routine of patient care.
If you're new to Reiki and wish to try it, a Reiki Share Circle is a great place to start. Reiki Share Circles are becoming popular all over the country. Most are open to the public and are either free or very inexpensive. A simple internet search will locate one near you. However, if you live in the Portland Oregon area, I invite you to join me for my circle, which I hold four times a year. Or treat yourself to an individual session. The healing that comes from Reiki is three fold: mind, body, and spirit. Reiki treats your whole being, not just the physical.
